What is Spam?
Superpower your program with best practices and tips from Upaknee
Spam email or junk email are unsolicited emails that are delivered to your inbox, these emails usually contain explicit or illegal content and are sent by illegitimate email addresses to a large list of recipients. Not all marketing messages are considered as spam, the difference between a Spam email and a marketing email is the recipient’s permission. Once you opt in to receive emails, legitimate marketing emails will be sent to your inbox, and you will be able to opt-out and manage your subscriptions at any time.
Most of the spam emails are sent for commercial purposes, however, they can also be malicious software attempting to gain access to your private information.
SPAM in Canada is governed by Canada’s Anti-SPAM legislation (CASL), which attempts to eliminate the distribution of unsolicited email through different restrictions. To learn more about CASL, visit this article.
How are the spam complaints managed on Upaknee’s Campaign Manager?
When a subscriber marks a campaign as Spam, our system automatically changes the status to Spam and suppresses the email address to ensure no more mailings are delivered to this subscriber in the future. In Campaign Manager, you can find the list of subscribers who marked a mailing as Spam under the Spam tab of your Primary Contact List.
